Packaging Production Designer - Contract

Summary:

Colorescience is looking for a part-time freelance production designer to support our expanding product and packaging needs this summer. In this role, you will work closely with the product development team to update existing packaging, help expand products into new international markets, and launch new skincare innovations. This is an exciting opportunity for any print designer or packaging guru to work in a fast-paced beauty industry for a growing consumer brand.

  • Are a great designer, communicator and problem solver
  • Have a love for print production and technical side of graphic design
  • Are experienced in designing for print and packaging, with exceptional pre-production knowledge
  • Are comfortable working directly with internal team and outside vendors to clearly understand the needs of the project from start-to-print
  • Are extremely well-organized, with an amazing attention to detail (your friends might just call you OCD)

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Graphic design and production of all packaging files across varied substrates:  e.g., printed paper cartons, plastic, metal
  • Take direction from team to make edits or revisions promptly and accurately
  • Whip-sharp attention to details including typesetting, style standards, and technical production needs

  • Collaboration: work seamlessly with a cross-functional team member and vendors
  • Adaptability: Flexible and able to maintain perspective and cope effectively while juggling multiple objectives in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Very well organized, with exceptional attention to detail

 

 

 

Background/Qualifications:

  • Extremely strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with emphasis on Illustrator.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in print or packaging design
  • Degree in Art, Advertising, Graphic Design or equivalent professional experience
  • Solid print / packaging experience as evidenced in your book (please include examples of relevant work)
  • Exceptional typography, composition, production, and design skills
  • Experience working independently, with strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time and assignments in a fast-paced, deadline sensitive and detail-driven environment
