Summary:

Colorescience is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Staff Accountant. Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting various accounting functions, including financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance and account reconciliation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment. This position can be a hybrid position, working remote as well as certain days based out of the Colorescience Corporate Headquarters in Carlsbad, CA.

 What You’ll Do

Colorescience is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Staff Accountant. Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting various accounting functions, including financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance and account reconciliation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment. This position can be a hybrid position, working remote as well as certain days based out of the Colorescience Corporate Headquarters in Carlsbad, CA.

 Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)

  • Oversee daily bank deposits.
  • Oversee posting of payments into ERP system including checks, wires, and credit card payments.
  • Prepare, post, verify and record customer payments and transactions.
  • Execute and oversee daily invoicing process.
  • Maintain AR files and records.
  • Review AR aging and assist with collection activities as needed.
  • Oversee RMA (return material authorizations) and customer chargeback process.
  • Assist with weekly vendor payments and check processing.
  • Oversee weekly AP Open Issues meetings.
  • Assist in the month-end close process, including review of monthly activities in assigned G/L accounts, preparation of journal entries and G/L account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review month-end and interim reports and analysis.
  • Assist the annual audit, including the preparation of audit schedules.
  • Reconcile Concur expense reporting to GL and assist employees with reporting issues.
  • Maintain fixed asset subledger; record fixed asset acquisitions and disposals, prepare property tax returns.
  • Process tax notices and update third-party sales tax system as needed.
  • Provide sales, franchise and property tax reporting support.
  • Perform other related duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA certification or working towards CPA eligibility preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment or public accounting firm.
  • General ledger account knowledge, financial analysis, month-end close and reconciliation experience.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software applications.
    • Familiarity with Intuitive ERP is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player willing to assist in additional areas when required.
