Colorescience is a premium clinical skincare brand specializing in mineral sunscreen and color-correcting products. Our products are physician-dispensed and sold direct-to-consumer via colorescience.com (Shopify), Amazon, and professional channels. We are in a high-growth phase backed by Roundtable Healthcare Partners, with a rapidly expanding digital and omnichannel operation.
We are looking for a Director of Analytics, Insights & Automation to build and own the data, insights, and automation engine at the center of our business. As we scale across DTC, Amazon, professional, and emerging channels, this is a net-new leadership role created to build the capability that connects our data, measures what matters, and turns it into decisions. It is an owned, strategic asset that will underpin how we invest, prioritize, and grow.
This is a rare multi-capability role. You will own three connected tracks:
1. Data foundation -- architect and build the pipelines that ingest and unify data from across our stack (Shopify, Amazon, media platforms, Klaviyo, Gorgias, ERP, syndicated/Nielsen data and more) into a clean, automated, in-housed reporting foundation.
2. Insights and activation -- stand up the reporting and insights layer on top of that foundation to serve internal customers across marketing, eCommerce, and the professional business.
3. Automation – drive adoption of automation tools and services to free up team members to work on value added work.
The right leader has done both in their career: they can build the plumbing AND interpret the data to influence the business. You are as comfortable designing an automated data pipeline as you are sitting with a senior leader to translate numbers into a recommendation. You bring strong financial acumen, a bias for automation, and the stakeholder skills to make analytics a driver of the business agenda, not a back-office function. You will build and lead a small team, starting with a dedicated analyst for the professional channel.
Analytics Strategy & Leadership
• Own the vision, roadmap, and agenda for analytics and insights across DTC, Amazon, professional, and omnichannel -- aligned to overall business objectives.
• Act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, translating data into recommendations that shape investment, KPIs, and priorities.
• Build and lead the analytics function, including a dedicated professional-channel analyst; grow the team as the capability matures.
Data Foundation & Engineering
• Architect and build automated data pipelines that connect and unify our systems -- Shopify, Amazon (Seller/Vendor, AMC), media platforms (Meta, Google, TikTok, Amazon DSP), Triple Whale, Klaviyo, Attentive, Gorgias, Loop, the ERP, and syndicated data (Nielsen and similar).
• Bring key data sources in-house into a clean, governed, scalable reporting stack -- reducing reliance on manual pulls and one-off custom reporting.
• Establish data governance, definitions, and reconciliation so the business trusts a single source of truth.
Reporting, Insights & Activation
• Build the reporting and insights layer that serves internal customers -- marketing, eCommerce, retention, and the professional/sales team -- with self-serve dashboards and decision-grade analysis.
• Move measurement from quarter-on-quarter / year-on-year snapshots to trended, cohort, and month-on-month views (e.g., net-new-to-brand and cost-per-new-to-brand, LTV, retention, margin by SKU).
• Help the business evolve beyond blunt efficiency metrics toward measures that reflect true incremental growth and profitability.
• Partner with the professional/sales team to model syndicated data -- and turn it into an actionable plan the team can execute.
Automation, Models & Innovation
• Develop custom models and algorithms that support the data strategy and drive tangible business impact.
• Champion automation and AI-enabled workflows -- including agentic approaches that monitor, simulate, and recommend action across channels.
• Continuously identify opportunities to embed analytics into daily operations, making insight a routine input to decisions rather than an occasional report.
• 8+ years in analytics, data science, or business intelligence, including leadership of an analytics or insights function within an eCommerce, consumer brand, retail, or CPG environment.
• Demonstrated dual capability: hands-on building of data foundations (pipelines, automation, data engineering) AND analytics/insight generation that influenced business decisions.
• Strong command of the modern data and reporting stack (SQL, data pipelines/ETL, BI/visualization tools such as Looker/Power BI/Tableau; cloud data warehousing).
• Experience unifying data across eCommerce and omnichannel sources (Shopify, Amazon, media platforms, CRM/ESP, ERP) and working with syndicated data (Nielsen/IRI or similar).
• Strong financial acumen -- able to connect analytics to margin, contribution, and investment decisions.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication; a track record of influencing senior leaders and shaping the business agenda.
• Comfort with automation, modeling, and AI-enabled analytics; a builder's mindset.
• Experience in beauty, skincare, health/wellness, or clinical/physician-dispensed brands.
• Experience with Amazon analytics (AMC, DSP measurement) and retail media.
• Familiarity with our stack (Shopify, Triple Whale, Klaviyo, Attentive, Gorgias, ERP).
• Data science / engineering education or background.
• Experience building an analytics function from the ground up in a high-growth, PE-backed environment.
Competitive salary commensurate with experience. Full benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and employee product discounts. This is a high-impact leadership role at the center of the business, with significant scope to build as Colorescience scales.
